The RSS Weblog has a thorough review of the Google Reader by Brad Hill as it stands today. On CNet, Rafe Needleman is enamored with it, and praised what seem like obvious features done half assed to me. Apparently the Google Reader could not read his NewsGator OPML file. My Attensa for Outlook opml export worked just fine by the way (with some 500 or so subs.) But I digress. At Attensa our online reader (which is a better implementation utilizing AJAX IMHO) is just a technology demo, as we are focused on the enterprise. In fact our enterprise product Attensa Feed Server powers it. Our new Portland pal Marshall covered the Google reader announce at Techcrunch.
The net, net from where I sit is...it's all good. The more folks exposed to RSS the better. Most of us in the biz think these readers will all be commoditized anyway - if they are not already. At least, I hope so! Yes, I am counting on it for Attensa's business model to flourish. Rock on Google, between this new reader and the new yahoo mail and the new windows live work...2007 is poised to be the year of RSS.
